Understanding XAU and XAG
XAU is the public market code for gold and XAG is the public market code for silver. FXRate.io uses those public codes in dropdowns, search and page copy even when the internal data feed stores metal instruments under legacy identifiers.
Spot-market metal prices are reference prices. Retail bars, coins and jewelry can include premiums, taxes, shipping, storage and dealer spreads.
